The Portage High School Theatre Department is set to perform this year’s fall play Reunion (After the End of the World) by playwright Will Quam. The play stars senior Honora Brown as Nora and senior Eliza Miller as Sofie, along with many other talented actors. The play is directed by theatre director and teacher, Mahaffa Thompson, with help of stage manager senior Nevaeh Miranda and assistant stage managers Lilly Harbart and Jay Dennis.
The play is set in a post-apocalyptic world where everyone over the age of 18 has died. Of those who survive, two groups are formed: the schoolers and the outsiders. The schoolers live in their old high school where everyone has a role and they live in a strict day by day routine to keep them “safe.”
The outsiders, on the other hand, scavenge the land. If they want something they have to find it. They only have the clothes on their back and what they can carry in a backpack. The outsiders decide to enter the old high school not thinking anyone would be there and are shocked when people are there. Secrets are revealed, true colors are shown, and people figure out who they are in this new rough world.
This year’s fall play will take place from November 21st to 23rd in the East Auditorium at Portage High School. To buy tickets, visit https://portageperformingarts.ludus.com/index.php.
